Changes in online marketing and sales practices among non-medical cannabis retailers in 5 US cities, 2022 to 2023
Abstract Non-medical cannabis retail, including online, has quickly expanded across the US. We examined online practices of 175 retailer websites in 5 US cities in 2022–2023. Over 85% leveraged online sales, discounts/samples, and/or social media marketing. About half posted health benefits, while about one-third showed health warnings. A fourth lacked age checks for site entry and/or used images targeting young people.
