Gea Guerriero

I obtained my PhD in Applied Biology at the University of Naples "Federico II" and during my studies I became passionate about plants. After my PhD, I travelled around Europe as a postdoctoral fellow, namely Sweden, Northern Italy, Austria. I currently live and work in Luxembourg, where I hold the position of Senior Lead R&T Scientist at LIST (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology). My research activities have pivoted around the study of cell wall biosynthesis in plants. I have studied the development of plant fibres using transcriptomics and carried out research to modify the properties of plant bast fibres using biotechnological strategies. My scientific activities are currently focussed on the valorisation of plant cell cultures as phytofactories for the production of added-value compounds of interest for several applications.
