John Macleod

John Macleod was a GP in Hartcliffe, Bristol, he retired from clinical practice in 2023. His main research interests are the explanation and amelioration of health inequality with a particular focus on the role of factors acting in earlier life and the use of routine data in epidemiological research. Clinically his research has focused on the treatment of substance use in the community and on screening and treatment for Chlamydia in primary care. He co-lead the Centre for Academic Primary Care and the NIHR School for Primary Care Research at the University of Bristol and was Director of NIHR ARC West. He was lead for Applied Health Informatics across the national ARC network and co-lead the Longitudinal Linkage Collaboration component of the Longitudinal Health and Wellbeing Covid-19 National Core Study.
