Sheikh Mohammed Shariful Islam
Associate Professor Shariful Islam is a physician trained in Cardiology with a PhD and postdoctorate fellowships in digital health. Shariful is currently an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and Group Leader for Global Health at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition at Deakin University and Honorary Professor at the Noncommunicable Diseases Department, at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences. Previously, he was a Honorary Senior Fellow at the George Institute for Global Health and a Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. Shariful's research focuses on design and conduct of large-scale epidemiological studies, meta-analyses, and clinical trials testing comparative effectiveness strategies for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, his research also focuses on the use of mHealth, wearable devices, biosensors and innovative information technologies for prevention and management of chronic diseases.
