Researcher profile
Artemis Igoumenou
I am a clinical academic psychiatrist, currently working in the Division of Psychiatry in UCL as a Clinical Senior Lecturer and in Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust as a Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist and the Trust's R&D Director. I am trained as a General Adult Psychiatrist with endorsement in Psychiatry of Addictions, endorsement equivalent in Rehabilitation Psychiatry and also trained as a Forensic Psychiatrist. My research interests include the assessment and management of risk, and the mental and physical wellbeing of individuals with complex mental health diagnoses. My research has focused on specific populations such as offender and rehabilitation psychiatry populations, but also general adult psychiatry populations. I have combined my research interests with my teaching commitments in the UK and overseas. I have developed diverse teaching programmes and have received positive feedback from students. I continue to be actively engaged in medical education. Throughout my career I have engaged in practice innovation and advocating for clinical excellency. I have developed and established services, improved clinical practice, improved junior doctors training and clinical safety, and added to evidence-based medicine.
