Sónia Gonçalves Pereira is a PhD MD tenured Researcher, leading a multidisciplinary group focused in 2 main areas: a) microbiome studies, particularly regarding the interplay with the immune system in Celiac Disease, along with biopsychosocial features of the disease; b) antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control, including the development of fast-paced point-of-care diagnostic devices for antimicrobial susceptibility profiling and infection risk prediction tools. Conducting her research through a collaborative approach with different fields of knowledge, she seeks to excel knowledge transfer and bring science closer to society.
