ABDON MUKALAY
Ordinary Professor Dr Abdon Mukalay, PhD (University of Lubumbashi-UNILU, DR Congo & Free University of Brussels-ULB, Belgium), Postgraduate degrees in Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics (ULB, Belgium), Physician degree (University of Kinshasa, DRC). Honorary Dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Honorary Academic Secretary of the School of Public Health (UNILU). Member of ADELF (Francophone Epidemiologist Association) and AFREhealth. My main expertise lies in the management of health systems and projects, biostatistical support, operational research, and implementing epidemiological research designs. I have been managing the Unit of Clinical Epidemiology and Tropical Diseases since January 2016. I worked for three decades as a physician and a manager in several humanitarian and disease control projects. From 2013 to 2017, I worked with many agencies (CEMUBAC-ULB, MSF-Netherlands, CIET/McGill University-Canada, etc.) and bilateral/multilateral organizations (Belgian Embassy, BTC, HRSA-USA, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, etc.) in health, education, and development. My academic career started at the UNILU. I have been involved in health systems, nutrition, tropical diseases, and HIV projects, research, and teaching activities. I am a Principal investigator or co-investigator of projects granted by HRSA-USA and other universities. Since December 2024, I have been chairing the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group of the DR Congo.
