Born 1958, married and 2 children. MD 1983, PhD 1994. Spesialist Diploma in Clinical Microbiology 1991. Professor of Medical Microbiology at UiT - The Arctic University of Norway 1995-. Medical director at The National Advisory Unit for Detection of Antimicrobial Resistance (K-res) at University Hospital of North-Norway 2001-. Member and chairman for the Norwegian Antibiotic Committee (AFA) 1996-. ESCMID fellow 2017. Main research activities: (i) Molecular ecology of Klebsiella pneumoniae and related AMR in a OneHealth perspective. (ii) Population analyses of the human gut microbiome-resistome. (iii) Development and evaluation of pheno- and genotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing. (iv) Multilevel molecular epidemiology of antibiotic resistance (resistance determinants, mobile genetic elements, clones) mostly related to Enterococcus faecalis/faecium and Enterobacterales. (v) Previously - Bacterial fitness and mechanisms for persistence of antibiotic resistance.
