Nelesh P. Govender

Nelesh Govender's research focuses on the epidemiology of fungal and bacterial infections, pathogen genomics and antimicrobial resistance. His group evaluates ambitious interventions in clinical trials or implementation studies to improve outcomes for affected people, particularly in resource-limited settings. He is an NIHR Global Health Research Professor and is on long-term leave from his position as head of the NICD's Centre for Healthcare-Associated Infections, Antimicrobial Resistance and Mycoses. He provides technical support to the World Health Organization as a member of expert/ guideline groups.
