Carole Clair and Carole Willi

I am an associate professor at the Center for Primary Care and Public Health (Unisanté) of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. I am trained as a general internist, obtained my board certification (FMH) in general internal medicine in 2007 and my doctoral thesis (MD) at the University of Lausanne in 2008. In 2009, I obtained a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) for my postdoc in Boston, USA. I joined Nancy Rigotti’s team as a research fellow at the Tobacco Research and Treatment Center of the Massachusetts General Hospital. In parallel, I completed a Master in Science in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health and got an MSc in Epidemiology in 2012. In 2015, I obtained a 3-year Ambizione Grant from the SNSF to conduct a research project on smoking cessation in people with type 2 diabetes. Since 2019, I co-lead the Health and Gender Unit at Unisanté. My main research interest is to better understand differences in health between women, men and gender diverse people, including both biological sex and social gender dimensions. I currently work on a project to implement gender in the pregraduate teaching of medical students in all Swiss Universities.
