Minh Tran Hung

Dr. Minh Tran Hung is a medical doctor, researcher, and public health professional with more than 30 years of professional experience in research and monitoring and evaluations (M&E) of a wide range of public health programs. Dr. Minh is a Doctor of Medicine, specializing in hygiene and epidemiology and has a master’s degree in Health Systems Management from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has expertise in the design, management, analysis, and dissemination of a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research projects. He also has extensive experience in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems of various intervention programmes of international organizations such as UNFPA, Cordaid. In his current position as the Director of the Consultation of Investment in Health Promotion (CIHP) and Director of the Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP), he is responsible for day-to-day office operations, fundraising, work planning, budget monitoring, and donor relations. He is able to direct and manage a team and work with local and international partners. As the Head of the Research Division at CCIHP, Dr. Minh is the principal researcher for studies focusing on health system reform, reproductive health, gender, and violence. He has expertise in implementing both operational and longitudinal studies, for example, longitudinal studies on safe motherhood (e.g. Plan and Care International), water and sanitation (e.g. SNV, World Bank), adolescent reproductive health (e.g.Rutger WPF, Path), and gender based violence (e.g. Emory University, PyD, UNFPA, Abt). He also provides technical assistance on research methodology for health professionals and medical students, focusing on quantitative research methods. He designs and implements operational research integrated with M&E systems of health interventions at different levels in Vietnam. Before founding both CIHP and CCIHP with colleagues, Dr. Minh was a researcher and lecturer at the Community Health Research Unit of Hanoi Medical University. He is the author of numerous international peer-reviewed journal articles, working papers, and research reports focusing on reproductive health, gender, and violence.
