Kedir Hussein Abegaz

Dr. Kedir Hussein Abegaz is an IBM-certified data scientist and an assistant professor of biostatistics and health informatics with over 15 years of multifaceted experience across academia, research, and international development. He currently serves as a research specialist for the U.S. State Department’s Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture project and holds an Asst. Prof. Dr. position at Madda Walabu University. A prolific researcher, Dr. Abegaz has authored more than 50 articles, specializing in the application of statistics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning to address critical challenges in healthcare, food security, and epidemiological modeling, notably for predicting COVID-19 mortality. Beyond his primary roles, he is a recognized international academic editor, a Global Burden of Disease (GBD) collaborator, and a consultant who has influenced policy and research through his work with the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology and the American Cancer Society. Kedir was born to his mother, "Sofiya Adem Seid," and his father, "Hussein Abegaz Birru," in Alamata town, the former Raya-kobo awraja, North Wollo, Ethiopia, in 1988.
