Dion Stub

Professor Dion Stub is an interventional cardiologist at The Alfred Hospital and Co-Director of the Centre of Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics at Monash University. He is a Professor with Monash University and Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes institute, sits on the executive committee of Australian Resuscitation Council, Cardiology Advisor to Ambulance Victoria and sits on medical advisory board of Hearts4Heart, a national consumer advocacy organisation, with leadership positions on major pre-hospital and hospital cardiac registries in Victoria, including the Victorian Ambulance Cardiac arrest registry (VACAR), Victorian Cardiac outcomes registry (VCOR), and Victorian Ambulance STEMI quality Initiative (VASQI). Prof Stub has recently been appointed the Chair for the Victorian Advisory Board for the National Heart Foundation. Prof Dion Stub has particular interest in treating the cardiac emergencies of myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest, and was awarded his PhD in 2013 developing Australia’s first treatment pathway for patients with refractory cardiac arrest, through combined research at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute and The Alfred Hospital. He spent 2 years overseas as a postdoctoral fellow, with the support of a Victoria Fellowship, Royal College of Physicians and Australian Cardiac Society awards. He worked first at the University of Washington, Seattle and then spent 12 months at St Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver as an interventional fellow, working with Prof John Webb, an international expert at transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Prof Dion Stub has published extensively and delivered multiple presentations in both cardiac emergencies and structural heart intervention, and has been internationally recognized for his research. His research has led to improved outcomes for patients with heart attack, shock and cardiac arrest. He currently holds the prestigious National Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship Level 2 to support his clinical research.
