David L. Joly

Associate Professor at Université de Moncton, focusing on plant (mostly cannabis) genetics/genomics, especially in the context of plant-microbe interactions. Previously, I was a postdoctoral fellow studying comparative and functional genomics in cereal rusts at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre (Guus Bakkeren lab - Summerland, BC) and at Trent University (Barry Saville lab - Peterborough, ON). I did my Ph.D. at Laval University/Laurentian Forestry Centre (Richard C. Hamelin lab - Quebec City, QC) on genomics and transcriptomics of poplar leaf rusts. My research interests include the use of genomic and molecular tools to decipher the mechanisms by which the plant immune system and microbial effectors interact together. My long-term objective is to unravel how information on effector biology can help devise durable control strategies.
