Alexandre Gomes
Alexandre Gomes, MD, MSc, PhD Professor of Surgery and Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), Brazil. Dr. Gomes earned his MD degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo in 1985. He completed his residency training in Surgical Gastroenterology at the Hospital do Servidor Público Estadual (HSPE), São Paulo, from 1986 to 1990, including specialized training in Coloproctology. He obtained a Master's degree in Principles of Surgery from Faculdade Evangélica do Paraná (FEPAR) and a PhD in Medicine (Digestive Surgery) from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP). Dr. Gomes is board-certified in Gastroenterology, Digestive Endoscopy, General Surgery, and Digestive Surgery. He is a member of the Brazilian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SOBED), the Brazilian College of Surgeons (CBC), the Brazilian College of Digestive Surgery (CBCD), and the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology (FBG). Since 2011, he has been an International Member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). His clinical and academic interests focus on gastrointestinal endoscopy, interventional endoscopy, gastroenterology, digestive surgery, pancreaticobiliary diseases, and colorectal disorders. Dr. Gomes serves as a peer reviewer for several international journals, including iGIE (iGastrointestinal Endoscopy), where he was recognized among the Top 10 Reviewers in 2023, Endoscopy International Open, Therapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology (SAGE), World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery (WJGS), World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG), and SAGE Open Medical Case Reports.
