Researcher profile
Diego Noe Rodriguez-Sanchez
My research group is dedicated to developing innovative strategies for repairing and regenerating both the central (CNS) and peripheral nervous systems (PNS). We employ cutting-edge biofabrication techniques, including 3D bioprinting, injectable chemical and photocrosslinkable hydrogels for drug delivery, stem cell transplantation, and scaffolds integrating natural and synthetic biomaterials. By precisely controlling the release of neurotrophic factors and optimizing stem cell delivery, we aim to enhance and accelerate neuroregeneration, broadening the possibilities for nervous system repair. My core competencies include the synthesis and broad characterization of natural-based hydrogels, microbeads fabrication, annealing and cell-laden microbeads, as well as the isolation and characterization of mesenchymal stem cells and advanced cell culture techniques. I also focus on the optimization of bioinks for 3D bioprinting and the rapid prototyping and biofabrication of drug delivery devices. Additionally, I have extensive experience with microsurgical, behavioral, electrophysiological, histological and ultrastructural techniques in both small and large animal models of traumatic and inflammatory nervous system diseases.
