Irina Girleanu
Irina Girleanu, MD, PhD, Gastroenterology senior physician, Internal Medicine specialist is Associated Professor of Gastroenterology and works in Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Sfantul Spiridon University Hospital, Iasi, Romania. She is also a member of the liver transplant team, being the hepatologist involved in including the patients on the liver transplantation awaiting list and in theie follow-up after liver transplantation. Her main fields of interest are coagulation disorders in liver cirrhosis, liver transplantation, NASH, viral hepatitis, and liver cirrhosis complications. She completed her PhD at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Grigore T. Popa” Iasi. She is involved in many projects, including non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, natural history of portal vein thrombosis, screening for viral hepatitis, prognostic factors in liver cirrhosis complications, and Clostridioides difficile infection. She is a member of the Vascular Liver Disease group (VALDIG), and member of the Management Committee in the project -European vascular liver diseases network (EURO-VALDI-NET). Her work has appeared in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, with more than 500 citations, and the data regarding portal vein thrombosis were included in the current guidelines.
