Natalia Albein-Urios

I completed my PhD in November 2012, focusing on Neuropsychology and Neurocognition, with training at the Department of Behavioural & Clinical Neuroscience Institute at the University of Cambridge, and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. My thesis was awarded the Special Prize for the Best Thesis in Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Granada (Spain). After my PhD, I moved to Australia, where I first worked at the Melbourne Children’s Hospital (University of Melbourne). I was then awarded a Health Doctoral Fellowship at Deakin University, where I led a clinical trial on non-invasive brain stimulation and neurodevelopmental disorders. Since then, my research has focused on developing novel brain stimulation approaches targeting the prefrontal cortex to reduce perseveration and emotion regulation difficulties in autism. I have also continued my work on addiction, using multimodal neuroscience techniques to better understand its neurocognitive underpinnings. I am currently a Lecturer at Federation University. I consider myself a highly motivated and adaptable academic, with a passion for teaching and research in psychology.
