Simon De Jaeger

Simon De Jaeger obtained his Master’s degree in Business Economics in 2005. In 2008 he successfully obtained an additional advanced master in Economics. Four years later Simon defended his PhD on the evaluation of policy instruments in waste and materials management. Since then, next to materials management, also the valuation of external effect based on the housing market has been at the core of his research. This resulted in many scientific publications, several of them focussing on efficiency analysis of (policy) interventions in the domain of materials management or the housing market in Belgium. Simon was also involved as promoter and co-promotor in several large and small scaled projects within this domain. He was and is co-promotor of the previous and current policy support centre on Circular Economy (https://ce-center.vlaanderen-circulair.be/nl), he was promoter for KU Leuven of the Innoviris funded project “Brussels circular economy transition (BRUCETRA)” and was promotor of the VLIR-OUS TEAMS project “Enhancing the social value of the circular economy in Latin America”. Since 2019 Simon is associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business at KU Leuven where he teaches Sustainable Development, Research Methodologies and Economics. He is also teaching at the faculty of Biomedical Sciences where he explains the relevance of Economics in the field of Biomedical Sciences and Medicine.
