Claire Niedzwiedz

Claire has a background in physiology, public health and social epidemiology. After completing her MSc in Public Health Research, she worked as an analyst at the Information Services Division of NHS Scotland. She completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow, which focused on understanding the role of social circumstances across the life course and wellbeing in older people across Europe. Claire has worked in postdoctoral research positions at the University of Edinburgh and Oxford. She also previously worked as a Senior Research Officer at the Mental Health Foundation in Scotland. She took up a RCUK Innovation Fellowship and joined the Mental Health & Wellbeing group in 2017. Her fellowship focused on exploring the relationship between physical and mental health conditions, particularly cancer and mental health. Currently, she holds a Lord Kelvin/Adam Smith Fellowship and is based within the department of General Practice and Primary Care. Her fellowship focuses on the relationship between climate change and mental health. She uses a range of secondary data sources, including UK Biobank and Understanding Society, as well as linked administrative health data.
