Dragan Govedarica

Dr. Dragan Govedarica is a Full Professor and Head of the Department of Oil and Petrochemical Engineering at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad University of Novi Sad (FoT NS). He has 19 years of work experience at FoT NS. He defended Ph.D. thesis in Chemical Engineering at FoT NS (2011), while his MSc thesis was defended in Oil and Petrochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering (2005, FoT NS). He was a holder of numerous scholarships and awards such as a Special Award from the University of Novi Sad for success during his studies (1998); a Scholarship from the Norway Kingdom Embassy in Belgrade for 1000 the Best Students in Serbia: "For Promising Generation” (2001); Summer School of Chemical Engineering, Dortmund (the best result on the course Industrial Chemistry and Gas-liquid Reaction Engineering)-(2002); Royal family Karadjordjevic scholarship for 100 the best students in Serbia (2003), etc. In the period 2006-2011, he was employed at FoT NS as a Research trainee and Research Assistant. Since 2011, Dr. D. Govedarica teaches at the Faculty of Technology as Assistant Professor (2011-2016), Associate Professor (2016-2021), and Full Professor (from 2021). In the period 2018-2020, he was Vice Dean for Education at FoT NS. From 2011, at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad in a study program on Chemical Engineering/ Oil and Petrochemical Engineering he is responsible for the following BSc courses: Petroleum Refining (mandatory course), Natural gas processing and application (mandatory course), Petroleum Products (mandatory course), and Environmental Management in Oil and Petrochemical Industry (elective course), as well as for MSc courses Sustainable Development and Energy Efficiency (elective course) and Simulations and Process control in the petroleum industry. Since 2015 he is responsible for elective Ph.D. courses Selected chapters from petroleum refining and Environmental control and risk management. Furthermore, he was previously engaged in the student laboratory, computer, and auditory practice at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad within the courses: Remediation of Petroleum Contaminated Soils, Sustainable Development and Chemical Industry, and Process Plant Design. Dr. D. Govedarica was the supervisor of 2 defended Ph.D. theses, 32 BSc theses, and 23 MSc theses; He was a member of 50 committees for BSc and MSc thesis defense; currently, he is the supervisor of 3 Ph.D. theses. He has significant experience within the field of environmental science as well as fuels and rubber production and characterization; his research interest lies also in the field of chemical engineering, petroleum refining, rubber compounding, petroleum products, separation processes, equipment in the petroleum industry, and simulation of petroleum refining processes. Dr. D. Govedarica was a lecturer and organizer of numerous trainings and workshops for professionals and employees in the petroleum industry in Serbia and the region, among which the most important were: Petroleum refining, Equipment in petroleum refining, Simulation of petroleum refining processes, Petroleum production and processing, Basics of the petroleum industry, Process equipment, Environmental protection and energy efficiency, HSE and petroleum refining, etc. Dr. D. Govedarica has been actively involved in training activities at the national and international level, including participation in: Chemical Engineering International Summer School, for two months (2002, Dortmund, Germany), Advanced Separation Technologies in Chemical Engineering, two weeks (2008, Berlin, Germany), training and Invited lecture Education of chemical engineers for the petroleum industry in Serbia, at Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, Faculty of Chemistry, Department of petroleum chemistry and petrochemistry, one week (2017, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia). He has been a reviewer in a number of international SCI journals (e.g. Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy Policy, Environmental Pollution, Energy & Environment, RSC Advances, etc.). Dr. D. Govedarica has been a member of the Scientific Committees of four international scientific events as well as of the Organization Committees of two international scientific events organized at the University of Novi Sad and the University of Belgrade. He is a member of the national petroleum committee of Serbia – the World Petroleum Council (NPCS – WPC). He was the first president of Youth Committee of the national petroleum committee of Serbia and a representative of Serbia in the WPC Youth Committee (2014-2017). Moreover, he is a member of the European Federation of Chemical Publications: 22 articles in international journals with impact factor, 1 supplementary textbook (Petroleum products- supplementary textbook), and 1 National monograph (Govedarica Dragan, Sokolović Dunja, Emulsion separation using fiber bed coalescence).
