Angela Obasi

Dr Obasi is a clinician and epidemiologist specialising in the design and evaluation of complex health interventions. She has led a variety of studies ranging from exploration of the factors driving child marriage, to large-scale multi-country, multi-disciplinary cluster randomised evaluations of complex adolescent HIV and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) interventions. In line with the increasing recognition of the importance of links between communicable and non communicable disease, she has a growing portfolio of lung health and mental health research and is currently Co- Deputy Director of the IMPALA, NIHR Lung Health Unit, a £6.9m consortium involving 14 countries in Africa, Co-PI of the GRASP adolescent mental health project and PI of an MRC funded Adolescent Alcohol Reduction study. She cares passionately about equity in health and research and has been involved in a number of initiatives to promote this.
