Basmah Fehaid Alharbi

Dr. Basmah Fehaid Al-Wahbi Al-Harbi holds a PhD in Epidemiology from Queensland University of Technology (Australia), where her doctoral research—awarded the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award—examined the socio-cultural determinants of physical activity among young Saudi women using a robust mixed-methods framework grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior. She also earned a Master’s degree with distinction in Public Health and Health Promotion from Ulster University (UK), and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Qassim University (Saudi Arabia). Her research spans infectious disease epidemiology, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and disease elimination strategies, with a strong focus on epidemiological surveillance, spatial-temporal analysis, and public health transitions. She has contributed to advancing understanding of diseases such as schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis through population-based and mapping studies, providing insights into disease distribution and control strategies . In parallel, her work in behavioral epidemiology and health promotion explores socio-cultural determinants of health behaviors, particularly among women in the Middle East, integrating theoretical frameworks with applied public health research. She is also actively engaged in evidence synthesis, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses, as well as psychometric validation of research tools to strengthen evidence-based practice. Dr. Al-Harbi employs advanced methodological approaches, including epidemiological study design, multivariable statistical modeling, and mixed-methods research, contributing to both academic knowledge and public health policy development.
