Researcher profile
Katie Hampson
My work focuses on rabies, working with partners across Latin America, Asia and Africa to address both fundamental and applied questions. I lead a long-term study tracking rabies transmission in Tanzania through contact tracing and whole genome sequencing, and I collaborate with local and national governments and civil society from a range of countries to conduct implementation research on One Health approaches to surveillance, dog vaccination and last mile access to lifesaving post-exposure vaccines. I use quantitative modelling and statistical inference to explore policy scenarios combined with systems mapping and participatory approaches to co-develop, test and evaluate interventions. My research has been used to support global and national policies and for the dissemination of best practices.
