Fernando Cadaveira

Current position Professor of Psychobiology at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology of the University of Santiago de Compostela. Header of the research group on Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (NECEA). Interests: My research activity at the start of my career was centered on the neurofunctional effects of chronic alcohol consumption (1984-1990) and the identification of risk markers to alcoholism in children from families with high densitiy of alcoholism (1991-2000). Since several years ago, I chair a research about neurocognitive consequences of alcohol binge drinking in youths, using mainly event-related brain potential recordings and neuropsychological assessment. I also share with other members of the groupo the interest in the electrophysiological characterization of visual attentional processes and its applicability to the study of aging. Brief academic profile: Graduate and PhD in Philosophy and Educational Sciences (Psychology) by the University of Santiago de Compostela, after a period as PhD student grant holder, I carried out several teaching positions since 1984, always in the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology, reaching the position of professor of Psychobiology in 2011. I have teached mainly in the Psychology Degree, in the University of Santiago de Compostela, and also in the Master of Neurosciences (Cognitive Neuroscience). Across these years I carried out several academic responsabilities, among them those of Vicerrector of Academic Organization, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology. I also was the President of the Spanish Society of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience and the Coordinator of the Cognitive Neuroscience Research Network.
