Researcher profile
Edgar Pavel Salazar-Fernandez
Doctoral student in Biomedical Sciences at UNAM's LIIGH (Juriquilla, Querétaro). My research investigates the evolutionary history of genetic variants associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in the Mexican population, combining modern cohort genomics with ancient DNA to trace allele frequency dynamics across the past ~10,000. Broader interests lie in the population genetics of complex disease, local ancestry inference in admixed populations, and the paleogenomics of Latin American genetic diversity — a region historically underrepresented in large-scale genomic studies.
