Brian Ngongheh Ajong

I am a Medical doctor and public health expert with over 12 years of experience in preparedness and response to public health emergencies in sub-Saharan Africa. My work has focused on the preparedness and response to outbreaks such as mpox, Ebola, cholera, measles, malaria, and COVID-19 and humanitarian crises with leadership across surveillance, clinical case management, infection prevention and control, laboratory diagnostics, reactive vaccination, and risk communication and community engagement within the WHO Incident Management System and Emergency Response Framework. I have supported WHO’s public health emergency response work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and have also held emergency coordination and epidemiology roles with WHO headquarters, IOM, Medair, International Medical Corps, the Cameroon Red Cross, and MSF. I hold an MD from the University of Buea and an MPH from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with additional training in humanitarian health and global health diplomacy. My interests include health security, outbreak analytics, epidemiological surveillance, and the use of data science and AI for public health action.
