Carla López Núñez

Carla López Núñez completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Oviedo (2005–2010), followed by a Master's Degree in Clinical and Health Psychology Research (2011), where she began collaborating with the Addictive Behaviors Research Group (GCA), conducting both clinical and research work in the field of addictions (with a particular focus on smoking cessation). For her PhD studies, she received a "Severo Ochoa" scholarship from the Foundation for the Promotion of Applied Scientific Research and Technology in Asturias (BP 12-037). She earned her PhD in 2015 (International Mention) and was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Award in Health Sciences (2017, University of Oviedo). She has worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL, Ecuador, 2016–2017) and at Loyola University (2017–2021). She currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Personality, Assessment and Psychological Treatment at the University of Seville. At Loyola University, she led the Clinical and Health Psychology track in the PhD Program in Psychology and served as the academic coordinator of the Master's programs in Psychology at the Loyola Leadership School (2019–2021). Dr. Carla López has two recognized research periods (sexenios) accredited by CNEAI/ANECA (2018, 2024). She has participated in numerous national and international research projects related to mental health and the assessment and treatment of addictive behaviors in both adolescents and adults. In particular, she is currently Principal Investigator of the project “Randomized Controlled Trial of a Smoking Cessation Program for Adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DiMe-SALUD2 Project)” (ProyExcel_00669, PAIDI 2021; €97,613.36; 2023–2025). Her participation and/or leadership in these projects has led to dozens of publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences (h-index: 17; i10-index: 20). Moreover, she is a member of several research groups, including Allikay Clinical and Health Psychology Group (UTPL) and the CTS111 Clinical and Health Psychology Research Group (University of Seville). She has conducted research stays at international institutions in the United States (Brown University), Switzerland (University of Zürich), and New Zealand (University of Auckland). She has co-supervised one PhD thesis (Public University of Navarre, defense in July 2024) and is currently supervising two doctoral theses at the University of Seville.
